Still no Internet with my computer. I think it's a configuration issue between their wifi and my computer. Should of brought my Mac...tsk tsk. Today was a long. We had orientation all day today. Mostly going over information that we had our first semester in nursing school. Tomorrow we go out into the village and start the home visits. Basically we will e assessing living conditions, how many people live in each house, and if anyone is sick or has been sick recently. From there we will invite them into the clinic. Then work with the Dr (who is 24 years old, and pretty good looking, but married Mom) and help give the patients medications and other treatments.
I am having a great time but already tired of eating beans and rice and tortillas. I haven't really ventured out into eating a lot of foods yet but so far no one has gotten sick. They have a beer we had last night called Tona which to me tasted like half coors light and half pacifico. Not too shabby! Tonight, I think we will have a little of that!
Everyone have a great new years eve!

Orientation Day
Yesterday was SO much fun. It was a recreation day and we got to hike the volcano. When we arrived at night, I never had imagined that this place was so beautiful. On the bus ride over here it is mountains of green. At the top of the volcano you can see Lake Managua. I took a lot of pictures, I wish I could post them. I know we are going to be going to the beach on the 5th of January (Mom´s Birthday). That should be a lot of fun. Today, we are going to have an orientation at 10 and then meet one of the doctors from 1to 5. We will be having dinner at 10pm tonight at the hotel for new years. We will participate in Nicraguan tradition of burning of the past year. I am not sure on all of the details about that but it ought to be interesting. Tomorrow, we start out clinicals. Overall, it has been wonderful and extremely fun. I never thought I would see some of the things that I have seen and the conditions that some people live in. The person that is in charge of our group (Pavil) said that the annual salary for nurses here is 3,000 dollars per year. The average income overall per month of the country is 150 dollars. CRAZY. But last night we went out to eat, and a beer cost me a mere 1.25. I don´t believe I have ever gotten one for that cheap. Anyway, hope all is well. Love you.

Made it Safe
Hello. Made it safe to the hotel last night around 3 am. The flight was perfect, a little cramped but it worked out alright. We were exhausted by the time we got in. I will never ever complain about landing back in Austin with the humidity. It does not even compare to Texas. Immediate shower. The roads are really tough, very bumpy and I believe we drove on every side of the road on our way to the hotel. The people are very nice that are taking care of us. Slept ok, a lot of noises. However, this morning we had a nice surprise in our room. We had a HUGE tralantula (spelling?). Thankfully we had some man come kill it for us, but I have never seen anything that big. We are about to go change money and then go hike the Volcano this afternoon. We do have wireless but it is not working on my computer. Hope to write more and post pictures soon. Love you all.

About to leave
We made it to Fort Lauderdale after some minor complications at DFW. Luckily, we made our flight after the person took back my ticket and some phone calls were arranged. It was an issue with documentation about crossing the border into Costa rica because they had no proof we were going to leave the country and I guess an outbound ticket from costa rica just wasn't good enough...blah. But we are about to leave and will be greeted with pizza at the hotel for a late dinner...minus the cheese of course. Anyway, hope to be able to get to Internet tomorrow!
